Step up to WALKtober: A simple move that builds a habit.
James Clear wrote in his book Atomic Habits, “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” Achieving a temporary goal does not guarantee a permanent change, but building a solid routine creates a system that naturally yields long-term results.
With so much of our day spent on screens and at our desks, it can be easy to move less without even noticing it. According to MedlinePlus, a sedentary lifestyle with little to no exercise increases risk in health.

Being more active doesn’t always mean finding extra time in your day. It can start by adding a little more movement to what you already do. That's the whole purpose of WALKtober.
Through the four pillars of recovery: GoActive, GoHealthy, GoFocus, and GoSnooze, Cooeemates have different ways to look after their wellbeing. WALKtober is one way to put that into action, by making movement part of our everyday routine.
You don’t need to be a runner or aim for the highest number of steps. Start where you are. Walk a little more. Take the stairs. Move during a break. Join a moving game. What matters is building a habit of moving you can keep coming back to.
WALKtober may run for one month, but the habit doesn’t have to stop there. Kris once said, “increasing your steps for a month will make a huge difference to your physical and mental health."
What small step can you add to your day today?
